12 Nov – Albedo One is delighted at long last to release issue 48! We appreciate that this one has taken a long time to appear, and thank you all for your support whilst we worked through some background changes.
In this issue we’re particularly proud to feature fiction by renowned SF authors Barry N. Malzberg and Bruce McAllister in collaboration on the wonderfully evocative “Bar Story”.
Readers will also be excited to see fine work from Erin Pringle (“Water Under a Different Sky”), Brian Lillie (“Uncle Tal and the Dark”) and the winning story of the XXI RiLL Trophy, 2015, by Davide Camparsi (“Not by Bread Alone”), translated for the first time here to English by Paul Virgo.
And of course, this issue features a full suite of International Aeon Award Short Fiction Contest winners. Here we feature 1st Place Winner of the 2015 contest, David Shaw Mackenzie, with his superb science fiction piece, “The Decline of the Death Artist”. Bobby O’Rourke follows this up with his own fine piece, “For Goodness Sake”, as 2nd Place Winner, while we proudly feature Clara Kumagai’s “Listen and You Will See” as 3rd Place Winner.
All this is topped off by a fantastic cover by artist Alex Ries, complemented by one of our readers’ favourite features, SF and fantasy book reviews by the estimable Juliet E. McKenna, and finally an in-depth interview with Leslie Bohem, “Spielberg Wants You!”, conducted by Bob Neilson (not to mention a short story by Leslie himself, “Monster”).
All in all, not an issue to be missed!
