Aeon Press author Bruce McAllister is jazzed to report that a long episode (the spookiest!) from The Village Sang to the Sea: A Memoir of Magic (namely, “The Bleeding Child”, aka “The Crying Child”, first published in Cemetery Dance magazine, and also featured in Ellen Datlow’s forthcoming Best Horror of the Year #5) has been shortlisted for the Shirley Jackson Award.
The Award is given each year for “excellence in psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic.” Brad would be proud–since he lived that dark adventure. See the full list of Shirley Jackson Award nominations.
We wish Bruce the very best of luck for the final decision. And in the meantime, if you’d like to read this fantastic story, and more besides, you can buy The Village that Sang to the Sea here at the Albedo One Shop in print format for just 11 euro!
